Between 2015 and 2020, over 200 AI/ML-enabled medical devices received regulatory approval in the US and EU, with a strong focus on diagnostics and radiology.
Several of these innovations have already achieved reimbursement status, signaling a shift toward widespread adoption. One notable example covered by Puls Biznesu, one of Poland’s most prominent business publications, is BrainScan AI. This Gdańsk-based startup, led by Szymon Korzekwa, PhD, has developed an AI system to assist radiologists with the analysis of head CT scans. The tool has gained recognition and is currently being piloted in hospital settings.
These developments demonstrate how AI is transforming medical diagnostics—from niche prototypes to reimbursed, clinically meaningful solutions.
